![]() We tend to be downvoted to hell, but there are plenty of people who find these games dog shit to play due to controls. As is the case with MANY RDR2 and W3 players. But without those solid pieces I would not put up with the bad controls. RDR2, BoTW, nd W3 are excellent games that I push through bad ideas to enjoy what is good. Even with good controls a poorly designed open world you don't want to travel through is going to be bad even with great horse controls. Most all Horse riding experiences are not just poor, but a full on chore in most games. Witcher and RDR2 just have HORRID controls in general, so they translate in to even worse Horse riding exerperiences.īoTW has excellent controls and just janks it up for horses. ![]() Right behind Witcher 3 which as the WORST of all gaming. They are easily in the top 5 WORST horse riding experiences for me. Just to be clear, I'm not attacking your question or anything, just thinking out loud.įunny you mention them specifically. "So clunky! You have to stay on the ground and turn the wheels to move? And it's so loud" And the answer to that post might be, "that's because that's what driving a car is like" Maybe your issue is with horseback riding as a mode of transportation?Ī weird analogy, but, if we had all moved on from cars and now zipped around the skies in lightweight bubbles that responded to our every whim, I could see someone writing a similar post about driving cars in games. If you made them much faster, it wouldn't feel like a horse anymore- if the legs move too fast it will comical and if the legs don't match the movement you'll feel like you're floating. Otherwise, I wonder what you could tweak as far as a horse is concerned. Or some other kind of long-legged creature, like a spider type thing? ![]() Maybe you'd appreciate a mount like that in a game. Super strong and capable of huge leaps/graceful climbs. Did you ever play Shadow of Mordor? You can ride 'caragores' which is like riding a were-beast. So really maybe what you're asking for a new, better kind of mount (in your fantasy games example) that actually feels different vs. You're on a live, huge animal and I think games actually already take a lot of that away in the translation, turning them into somewhat temperamental motorbikes. It's why new riders aren't constantly galloping their horses across open countryside- a lot can go wrong with uneven footing and wildlife surprises. That said, horseback riding is clunky and your main concern is your horse's stamina/fear. r/CoOpGaming - A community for co-op gaming r/xboxone - Xbox-specific subreddit for general Xbox news and discussion r/playstation, /r/PS4 & /r/PS5 - PlayStation-specific subreddits for general PlayStation news and discussion r/pcgaming - PC gaming-specific subreddit for general PC gaming news, discussion and gaming tech support r/nintendo - Nintendo-specific subreddit for general Nintendo news and discussion r/shouldibuythisgame - Find out what's worth getting. r/gamingsuggestions - Go here to help you find your next game to play r/gaming4gamers - Discussion, bar the Hivemind
